We are Alex & Beverley, a still (fairly) young and (fairly) recently married couple. We live near Chorley in Lancashire and have a second base in Oxton, Wirral. We've just become very proud and happy parents for the first time and our lovely baby girl Siena is now our new photographic muse (our two rabbits now sadly relegated from that role)!
We remember all the stresses, strains and excitement of organising a wedding so when you meet us you can be sure we understand how difficult and how important it is to find exactly the right people for your big day.

Ideally, we'll work unobtrusively and concentrate on reportage / photojournalistic coverage, but we recognise most people want a mix of contemporary posed group portraits with lots of reportage coverage and special details from your day and that's what we provide. We don't limit the number of photographs we take - it's anywhere from 400-2000! That's a lot of work for us, but also ensures we provide the best possible record of your day.
We design your album; show you what we've done and then re-design free of charge, taking into account your tastes, favourite pictures etc. We can show you pages in black and white or in colour, with one image or many... or we can do it all for you and you can simply wait for the finished, gorgeous product to arrive!

Top tips to help you look your best! (from Cosmo Bride)
1. Practice makes perfect
Whether a professional is doing your make up or not, it's essential to have a trial run before your wedding. "A bride should do her make up as on her big day and get a friend to take some photos from different angles and in different lights. She can then see whether her skin looks as she wants it too." is the advice of celebrity make up artist Daniel Sandler. If you are thinking of tanning, remember to kept it natural, especially as your future husband may not be the same colour!
2. Back to base-ics
They key to getting a flawless, youthful complexion doesn't mean using as much foundation as possible. "Try using a silicone based primer before foundation," recommends Daniel, "It will smooth out any fine lines and make you look younger."
3. Say goodbye to shiny skin
Cosmo Bride's editor advises using blotting papers to remove excess oil, instead of being tempted to add powder. For a quick fix solution, take a tissue, peel off one layer and gently press to any shiny areas.
4. All smiles
To get the perfect smile, stick to pinky-brown lipsticks that whiten your teeth and try and steer clear or red and orangey colours that will make them appear more yellow. When being photographed, open your mouth slightly and your lips will appear fuller!
5. Mirror, mirror
You may feel silly, but practicing posing in front of a mirror on your own and also with your fiance will really help you work out when you think you look at your best. Is your face gorgeous from every angle or do you have a good side? Do you feel more comfortable with a small smile or a huge beaming one?
6. Strike a pose
To make your face appear slimmer, tilt it downwards at a 45 degree angle or place your tongue against the roof of your mouth to tighten up the jawline.
7. Stand tall
Brides, you may have ignored your mum telling you not to slouch when you were younger, but in wedding photography posture is SO important. Simply by standing up straight and putting your shoulders back you'll look taller and slimmer - perfect!
8. A dab hand
Your first concern may be hair and makeup, but with so many close ups of your hands at crucial moments, you can't afford to neglect them either. Treat yourself to a manicure the day your wedding to ensure they are polished to perfection.
9. At ease
Make sure you have discussed what you want with your photographer - and what you don't want. After that, relax and have a wonderful wedding day!
10. A slight reduction
To look as slim as possible, face the front and cross one leg in front of the other, then turn your body at a 45 degree angle away from the photographer, and turn your head and shoulders back towards it. (Practice!!) STand with one foot angled in front of the other, then raise your hands slightly to make them look thinner and to stop your shoulders appearing rounded. Finally, stretch your neck up like a swan and tuck your chin down slightly - this will help you developing a double chin in photographs.
11. And in case of emergencies...
Don't panic! Ask your mum or bridesmaids to carry essentials like a touch up kit containing lipstick, hair clips, hairspray, tissues, and those all-important safety pins...
Frequently Asked Questions (and even some answers!)
1. What style of work do you specialise in?
A very important question. Ideally we shoot informal, reportage style photographs, but as our sample albums show, we adapt to suit our clients. We are also really skilled at digital retouching, spot colouring and other effects, if that's the sort of thing you like.
2. Do you shoot digitally or on film?
We shoot entirely digitally. We use professional Canon digital SLRs and professional "L" lenses. We have spares galore so don't worry. We shoot digital because of the freedom it offers, and because we believe it provides the client with so much more.
3. Who shoots your weddings?
Our main photographer is Alex, he shoots EVERY wedding that is booked with us. If possible, Beverley will often second shoot. If you are really keen on a second shooter, tell us as we know lots of other professionals who we can call on to assist for only a small extra fee.
4. What guarantee do you offer?
We are members of a exclusive international group of photographers, the DWF, and also of the SWPP (Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers). We are fully insured with personal and professional indemnity insurance and equipment insurance. Alex is a full time professional and takes his work very seriously - although he really enjoys it!
5. What experience do you have?
The quick answer is plenty! Alex has been shooting weddings for about 6 years now, and before that was a photographer specialising in underwater life and also the ancient world. We've had our wedding photography business since March 2005 - 4 years at the time of writing.
6. Have you taken photos at our venue before?
Although we've been to most venues now in the North West, it's possible there are some we haven't yet shot at and don't know as well. But don't worry, as we offer a free pre-wedding / engagement shoot at your reception venue. Aside from the shoot, we make sure we scout the venue thoroughly before your big day!
7. How long do you stay?
Normally we cover everything from preparations up until your wedding breakfast - we leave when your guests begin to munch! But we can stay until either speeches, or for dancing. We're flexible.
8. What if it rains?
Despite the glorious British weather that we all know and love, it is actually quite rare for it to rain all day. We make sure we get everyone outside when rain stops, and if it doesn't we have huge white brollies with us for you to use. If we have to be inside, we have great equipment to take wonderful photos inside as well as outside.
9. Do you offer black and white as well as colour?
Absolutely! We'd love to provide a mainly b&w album - they can look so classic. But so far our clients love our colour photographs too much to let us! Most of our albums have a mixture - take a look at our galleries.
10. Do you charge for transport?
If your wedding is within 50 miles, no. After that we can talk about it!
11. Do you offer a discount for a weekday or winter wedding?
We're in pretty high demand nowadays throughout the year and especially from Friday-Sunday. But if you are getting married in the winter, or on a none weekend day, I'm sure we may be able to help you out!
12. What about copyright?
We retain the copyright of our images, but we still let you print from the discs we provide at full quality. Retaining copyright allows us to use images on this website, in our blog, and in our advertising - though if you don't want us to do this it's fine.
13. How many photos do you take...and when do we get to see them?
We take anywhere from 400-2000 photographs depending on the size and scale or your wedding. We try and get photos in our proofing gallery in about 7 days from your wedding, although sometimes in very busy periods, this isn't always possible.
14. How do we book you?
As long as your date is free, we need a deposit of £200. This will secure your date and make it yours exclusively. We never do two weddings on one day, unlike some!
15. How do you design albums? Can we have a say?
Of course - that's our preferred way of working. We want you to love your album and to want to recommend us to your friends. We always work with our brides and grooms so that often the final album is as much their vision as ours! But, if you want to "leave us to it" that's fine too - you'll still get opportunities to see everything before it gets sent off to me manufactured.
