Mytton Fold Hotel – wedding photographs of Rachelle & Lee’s April wedding http://www.fairfieldphotographic.com/blog/2013/5/Mytton-Fold-Hotel-wedding-photographs-of-Rachelle-Lee-s-April-wedding One of the nicest things about being a wedding photographer and doing a good job is that you are sometimes lucky enough to get the opportunity to photograph another wedding within the same family.  It’s happened to me lots of times now, and in this case I’d photographed the wedding of Rachelle’s sister, Talitha and her husband Paul back in 2009.  I’d really enjoyed their wedding and had got on really well with everyone, so I was looking forward to Rachelle & Lee’s wedding enormously.

We’d met about a month before on a very cold March day for the free pre-wedding shoot  and meeting which I offer all clients.  It’s a useful way to check out a venue, firm up and check the wedding details and see how easy (or difficult!!) the bride and groom will be to photograph, and of course, to try and put them at ease!  On this occasion it was my first time taking wedding photographs at Mytton Fold near Blackburn in Lancashire so it was especially useful to have a look round and talk with Rachelle and Lee about what we’d do on the big day itself.

Fast forward a few weeks, and after a few days of very dubious weather forecasts I was really pleased for everyone that the wedding day was mostly dry and even a bit sunny at times early on!  Rachelle and Lee and both their families were great to work with. I especially enjoyed the fun element of their wedding – walking out to Mah-Na Mah-Na by the Muppets, having a fantastic Muppet cupcake wedding cake, Muppet masks during speeches and even human sized Muppet cut outs on the dancefloor – ace   It was a great wedding which everyone enjoyed and hopefully you can see that in the photographs that follow.

My thanks as always to the couple for booking me and just being so great to work with, their families for their patience and kind words to me (much appreciated) and guests for not getting into my shots too much (you know who you were, dancefloor interloper!!).

As a quick aside please know that Rachelle makes bridal shoes beautifully bejewelled and blingy for weddings, so if you fancy getting married in some extra special footwear, you can contact me and I’ll pass your details to her

Carla & Kenny’s Wedding Photographs from the Doubletree by Hilton, Chester http://www.fairfieldphotographic.com/blog/2012/8/Carla-Kenny-s-Wedding-Photographs-from-the-Doubletree-by-Hilton-Chester I met Carla and Kenny for a pre wedding shoot at the Doubletree by Hilton in Chester on a beautifully sunny Sunday in May. Obviously it had rained pretty much non stop since the heat wave at the end of March but we were pretty hopeful that things had changed… Certainly we had a lovely day for our pre wedding photo shoot (which I offer as a freebie for all weddings) and as we walked around the hotel grounds in between me taking photographs Carla & Kenny told me of their plans to have the ceremony outside, and maybe a bbq in the evening. It sounded great, and I was excited as I haven’t ever shot an outdoor wedding ceremony.

Fast foward a couple of weeks and the forecast for the big day wasn’t good. I was hopeful we’d get some dry spells at least but unfortunately the rain gods had thrown their toys miles out of the pram and it torrented down all day without any let up at all.  Man plans and fate laughs, right? It certainly seemed that way! I guess we all had to improvise a little as this wasn’t in the script we’d gone through, but luckily, despite being forced to stay indoors, I think we managed to get some great photos and Carla and Kenny had an amazing day.

The bride, of course, looked beautiful and wore a stunning dress from Aristocrats of Chester Ltd and Kenny, in a suit by Greenwoods, on cue, got a bit emotional as she walked down the aisle. Inevitably they both relaxed after the ceremony I was able to get some stunning shots of them both.

The wedding gallery has already been online for some time, so if you haven’t already been given access by the bride or groom, please just ask them!

Guests and friends – please do feel free to leave comments below so the bride and groom can see what you think about their fab day.

Wedding Photography at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel, Blackburn / Kerri & Michael’s Wedding http://www.fairfieldphotographic.com/blog/2012/7/Wedding-Photography-at-the-Dunkenhalgh-Hotel-Blackburn-/-Kerri-Michael-s-Wedding-2 May 2012 saw pretty much everyone dodging heavy rain all month, that is, everyone except for Kerri & Michael on their wedding day. They had gorgeous weather!! It was sunny almost all day (except during the wedding breakfast) and in the evening there was some gorgeous light that I used to take some backlit photographs of the happy couple.

Their gallery has been online for a few weeks. You can view photos here.

Overall it was a really great day.  More details about the wedding will follow, but for now, here are some photographs:

Macdonald Kilhey Court Hotel wedding photographs / Emily and Simon’s Wedding http://www.fairfieldphotographic.com/blog/2012/7/Macdonald-Kilhey-Court-Hotel-wedding-photographs-/-Emily-and-Simon-s-Wedding Back in mid-May I shot the wedding of Emily & Simon at Kilhey Court Hotel & Spa near Standish. Despite this being one of the nearest venues to me it was the first time in 7 years of shooting weddings professionally that I’d worked there. Kilhey Court is a pretty big venue, with a mix of Victorian and modern buildings and has large gardens for photographers (and even guests!) to use.  Unfortunately it had rained almost all May so everywhere was pretty saturated, which reduced our photography options a little.

Emily and Simon were both up for anything on the day and big thanks to them for trudging over wet grass and believing when I said “It’ll be a great photos, just trust me ;) ”.

Their gallery has been online for about 6 weeks, but if you haven’t already you can view photos here.

A small selection, picked as normal by me alone, follows

Wedding!”.  Admittedly, I do love photographing weddings so me being enthused is to be expected, but I was also keen because after about 150 or so weddings, it’s really nice to shoot in a new area, at a new venue, and at a church I’ve not been to before.  I know brides and grooms are always keen to have had someone who’s worked at their venue before, but – and trust me on this – I’m pretty sure very wedding photographer does his/her best work when they are on their toes – and that happens more when everything is new or different!

Anyway… Tom and Rachelle are such a lovely couple with such warm and welcoming families it was a pelasure to photograph their wedding. As usual I did my mix of formals, and more romantic shots of just the bride and groom.

The gallery is online here – GALLERY – but please note you will need to contact the bride or groom for the password if you can’t get it from the clues!

Some photos follow; as ever my own eclectic choices of stuff I shot!

Mere Court Hotel, Knutsford Wedding Photography | Hayley & Ben http://www.fairfieldphotographic.com/blog/2012/6/Mere-Court-Hotel-Knutsford-Wedding-Photography-Hayley-Ben I’ve been meaning to blog the 8 or so weddings I’ve done since Ashleigh & Mark’s New Year extravaganza, but I’ve been too busy actually working and trying to provide a high quality and timely service to the lovely brides and grooms whose weddings I’ve been lucky enough to shoot.

So… instead of my normal long (boring?) blog post there is going to be some short n sweet postings from each of these weddings.

Hayley & Ben’s Wedding at Mere Court Hotel, Mere, Knutsford

Hayley didn’t book me until March this year for her wedidng which took place on 7th April. She had seen me at a fayre and said my work “looked fab” but then found a Groupon deal which was too good to turn down…but unfortunately it was also too good to be true and she was let down! I’m glad I was able to step in at the last minute

Some details – Cheshire Flowers provided the flowers and arrangements, Groovy Revolution were the (great) band, Perfect Wedding dressed the ceremony and reception rooms, and of course Fairfield Photographic provided great photography of this Cheshire wedding, and Mere Court was the venue. It was my first time there.

The gallery has been online for ages, so if you want to see the photos, feel free to pester the Bride & Groom for the password ;)ED1218202958_01

Winter Wedding Photography at the Saddleworth Hotel | Ashleigh & Mark’s Wedding http://www.fairfieldphotographic.com/blog/2012/5/Winter-Wedding-Photography-at-the-Saddleworth-Hotel-Ashleigh-Mark-s-Wedding I remember very distinctly Ashleigh coming up to my stand at the Tatton Wedding Show in January 2011 to ask whether I was available and willing to work on New Year’s Eve 2011 to shoot her and Mark’s wedding.  I immediately said yes as being a parent to a 3 year old, I have *no* social life most evenings and knew we wouldn’t have exciting plans for New Year’s Eve.

I met up with Ashleigh again a few weeks before her wedding – on a snowy Thursday in early December. She was so excited about the idea of a white wedding and I’m afraid the side of me that worries about logistical things (i.e. actually getting to the wedding in snow) rather hoped the snow would hold off, especially after the route I’d taken to Saddleworth had seemed quite narrow and hilly enough in the light snow we’d had.  Thankfully in the end (sorry Ashleigh) it did hold off, though we had rain instead. It just shows you can’t win them all

Online Gallery

The online gallery has been live for ages so I won’t worry about adding the link here.  If you are a friend and haven’t seen the photos yet, you can contact me or Ashleigh or Mark.

The Wedding Day

After worrying about snow for a 3 weeks, I went into the wedding day hoping for it to be dry and bright. I was half right. It was dry and bright; unfortunately it lasted until the time Ashleigh was due to leave her house and from that point it was a rather cold and rainy day – as Decembers traditionally are

As usual, things began properly for me with photographing the bride, bridesmaids and her family getting ready for the big day. I try not to get in the way too much and my modus operandi is to be quiet and try and let people forget I’m there.  This isn’t always that easy as sometimes rooms are fairly small and I’m not, but I think I do pretty well as hopefully the photos show..

I was really impressed when I found out that not only was Ashleigh going to be picked up by a wedding car sent by The Saddleworth Hotel itself, but that it was a beautiful Rolls Royce Phantom driven by Anthony (AJ), the owner of the Hotel.  It was the first time I’d known of an owner doing anything like this and it spoke volumes to me about the care and personal touch that he obviously wanted to show to the wedding party. I’ll add now that I got the chance to chat to AJ during the wedding breakfast and he was a really lovely guy with some great stories to tell :)

The Hotel itself is a really amazing venue. It has a wonderful mix of the traditional and the ultra modern – from the authentic wooden panelling and fabulous fireplace downstairs to the glass/marble and steel upper level of the ballroom.  I especially appreciated the under floor heating on a cold December day and the “stars” that came out in the ballroom ceiling at night – stunning.  Anyway, I hope to shoot another wedding there before long and next time, hopefully the rain and mist will hold off and I can get more photographs outside, in the gardens and of the stunning views. As it was I tried my best to coax guests and the bridal party outside but only Ashleigh and Mark were game.

After the brief time outside, it was time for the wedding breakfast and a much needed break for me until speeches. I got treated to a delicious meal prepared by the Saddleworth team and got to chat with AJ, and then soon it was time to cover the speeches – as can be seen below.

After the wedding breakfast there wasn’t long to wait until the evening really kicked off in style with the first dance under the “stars”. It was an amazing wedding, and a pleasure to cover

Winter Wedding Photography at Dunkenhalgh Hotel | Kerry & Tony’s Wedding http://www.fairfieldphotographic.com/blog/2012/5/Winter-Wedding-Photography-at-Dunkenhalgh-Hotel-Kerry-Tony-s-Wedding It’s been ages since Kerry & Antony’s wedding at The Dunkenhalgh Hotel – it was December 29th in fact – but I wanted to do a brief blog post about their wedding anyway, and post a few photographs.

I love photographing winter weddings whether in Lancashire or anywhere else. It’s often much more challenging than in the summer wedding season, due to weather, light, coldness outdoors – but they often have a really different vibe and because people are often in a festive mood anyway, they are a lot of fun. Kerry & Tony’s was no different.  As all their friends and family know, they are a really lovely, relaxed “normal” couple and really easy to work with.

Everything went pretty well on their day despite it being rather bitterly cold, and the rain coming and going rather more regularly than we’d have liked – but let’s be honest, in December in Lancashire if you get most of the day dry, you’re doing ok!!

I’m back at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel, Blackburn for another wedding in less than 2 weeks and am looking forward to it – it’s a lovely venue to work at with friendly, helpful and professional staff thaat are a credit to the Hotel.

Anyway – Kerry and Tony’s gallery has been online for ages, so please feel free to pester them for access. Otherwise, here are a small selection of photos.

New review :) http://www.fairfieldphotographic.com/blog/2012/3/New-review My thanks to Natalie, whose wedding to Mat (Paz) I photographed at the White Hall Hotel, Darwen, last year.  Natalie’s wedding is featured here.

Natalie Parrish – March 26, 2012 – 4:01 pm

We just wanted to say that Alex was brilliant from the moment we decided to book with him, until we collected our album!Nothing was too much trouble for him, he never showed that he was sick of me constantly asking questions leading up to the day and after ;o), and he went above and beyond to make sure the whole experience ran smoothly.

Lots of our guests commented on how brilliant he was on the day, and everyone who have seen our album were completly blown away, just as we were!  Some of my friends even want to re-marry so they can have Alex photograph it and have a album like ours! ;o)

So thank you again Alex, I would and have recommended you to anyone who is getting married!

I’ve still got a few dates left for 2012, so if you are getting married please don’t hesitate to get in touch before they are all gone!

Sylvia & Darius’s Wedding at Arley Hall, Cheshire http://www.fairfieldphotographic.com/blog/2012/1/Sylvia-Darius-s-Wedding-at-Arley-Hall-Cheshire As per normal the gallery is online here, and the password is…. you don’t know? Ask the lovely bride and groom!

The Wedding

Before I start, I need to preface what follows by saying that I genuinely like all the brides and grooms I work with.  I think all my previous clients know this, and my wife certainly knows that occasionally I don’t take bookings even when I’m available if I feel we won’t be a good match…

However, sometimes as a wedding photographer, everything really does just “click”, and it was like that for me with the wedding of Sylvia & Darius. I’d known it should be a good day because we’d met up for a pre wedding shoot at Rivingon a few weeks before and I was really pleased with my photos, and I think it’s safe to say they loved them. So I was hopeful that the wedding day would go pretty well too.

I should also add that out of all the venues I’ve worked, I do absolutely LOVE Arley Hall & Gardens. It is to die for. The grounds are amazingly stunning, and house is beautiful, staff helpful…just a great, great wedding venue. As as a photographer I really do visit lots and lots of venues. Arley probably have no knowledge of me or my work, which is ok, I love them anyway!

Some details:

A week or two before the wedding Darius had spooked me by analysing why they liked my photography so much – and as I told him, I don’t really think about it too much, I just see something I like in my head and then get the photograph    But, Darius if you’d like to head to Tatton this weekend for the Wedding Show I’d love you to talk to people about my stuff because you’d do a great job!

For a late October wedding we really had a perfect day. The weather was ideal, and as the wedding was on a Monday, Arley was closed to visitors and we had the autumnal grounds all to ourselves. I could go on and on but I won’t. Hopefully the larger than normal selection of photos above will have done the talking!

Sylvia and Darius, I love you. Seriously. If I could take you to every wedding to pose for me I would. All day you both had smiles on your faces – you were a joy to work with, and your familes were amazing too – thank you for picking me as your photographer!

Laura & Andrew’s Wedding at Peckforton Castle http://www.fairfieldphotographic.com/blog/2012/1/Laura-Andrew-s-Wedding-at-Peckforton-Castle Before I start if friends and family would like to see the gallery (and haven’t already) you can click here and if you don’t know the password, ask Andrew or Laura   As usual there’s a sampling of photos from the big day below.

The Wedding

It is ages ago now that I had the honour to photograph the very fabulous wedding of Laura and Andrew at one of Cheshire’s very top venues, Peckforton Castle.  I’d met Andrew and Laura there a few months before, and we’d had a wander round exploring, me taking photographs,  while talking about where they’d like their wedding photographs taken. Andrew was especially keen on me capturing some of the distinctive architectural features, which made me happy as I’ve always loved architecture. Unfortunately however, man plans and fate decides otherwise, and as many know, Peckforton was the victim of a shocking arson attack that left some parts of the castle ruined – including some rooms we were to use. I’m pleased to say though that Laura and Andrew weren’t fazed and the great staff at Peckforton Casle obviously did an amazing job to ensure that the summer’s wedding went off without a hitch.

I know Andrew and Laura had a great day and I hope they’ll have a wonderfully happy life together!
